Company Settings
Complete administrator guide to configuring company profile details, locations, schedules, shifts, holidays, lateness rules, roles, permissions, and security controls.
Company Settings
Company Settings is the control center for your WorkClock HQ workspace. Use it to define the company profile, attendance locations, working hours, shift rotations, holidays, lateness alerts, access roles, and clocking security rules.
Open it from the sidebar: Company Settings.
The page is organized into tabs. Some tabs only appear when your account has permission to view them, and the Shift tab only appears when your workspace uses a shift-based employment type.
Screen Orientation
When you open Company Settings, the main content area shows:
- A page title: Company Settings.
- A short description: Manage your company profile and settings here.
- A horizontal tab bar with Company Details, Locations, Schedule, Shift, Holiday, Lateness Policy, Roles & Permissions, and Security.
- The active tab highlighted in light blue.
- A form, table, card grid, or workflow area below the tab bar depending on the selected setting.
The left sidebar remains visible on desktop so administrators can move between Dashboard, Users, Attendance, Departments, Company Settings, Billing, Transactions, and Admin without leaving the workspace.

Recommended Setup Order
- Complete Company Details so the workspace identity and staff employment types are correct.
- Add Locations so employees can be attached to the correct branch and clock in within the right geofence.
- Add standard Schedule records for non-shift staff.
- If your organization uses shift work, configure Shift schedules, sessions, and rosters.
- Add Holiday dates for non-working days.
- Configure the Lateness Policy so managers receive useful alerts.
- Create Roles & Permissions before promoting users to administrators.
- Review Security before inviting the wider team.
Permissions and Visibility
Company Settings is permission-aware. If a user does not have the required permission, the tab, action button, or edit control may be hidden or disabled.
Common permission groups include:
- Organization view and update permissions for company details, holidays, security, and lateness policy.
- Location view, create, update, and delete permissions for office locations.
- Work schedule view, create, update, and delete permissions for normal schedules.
- Shift view, create, update, assign, and delete permissions for shift setup.
- Role view, create, update, manage, and permission assignment rights for roles.
How To Navigate Company Settings
- Sign in as an administrator.
- Select the correct organization from the organization switcher if you manage multiple workspaces.
- Open Company Settings from the sidebar.
- Choose the tab you want to configure from the horizontal tab bar.
- Use the top-right action button when available, such as + Add Location, + Add Schedule, + Add Holiday, or + Add Role.
Operating Notes
- Some actions are restricted by subscription limits. For example, location and schedule creation can be blocked when the current plan limit is reached.
- Some actions are restricted by onboarding order. For example, the app may remind you to complete the related onboarding milestone before continuing.
- Deleted schedules or locations can affect employee clocking, reporting, or roster assignment. Reassign affected users before deleting operational records.
- Changes to security and clocking settings affect the entire organization, so make them during a low-risk operational window when possible.
FAQs
Why can I not see every tab?
Your account may not have permission for that settings area. The Shift tab also depends on whether the organization has a shift-based employment type configured.
Why is an Add button disabled or blocked?
The action may require a permission, an active subscription feature, or remaining plan capacity. For locations and schedules, the app checks the current plan limit before opening the creation form.
Should I create schedules before employees?
Yes, if possible. Employees are easier to add when locations, employment types, and schedules already exist.
Should normal schedules and shift schedules be mixed?
No. Use Schedule for non-shift staff. Use Shift for shift staff, because shift users need shift schedules, session patterns, and roster assignments.
